Setting up and owning a business is a long and tumultuous journey: there will be accomplishments along the way but there will be an equivocal number of hurdles as well. As a business owner, the responsibilities can be overwhelming, therefore it is easy to get lost in the thick of it all.

Having said that, hiring a virtual assistant allows you to delegate the administrative tasks so that you can focus on the bigger picture.

However, what business owners find to be one of the most difficult tasks— which unfortunately at the same time is the first step of having a virtual assistant— is finding the time to think about which tasks to delegate.

Though it requires careful thought, it also forces you to find your WHY in the business; which is essentially what you will use as a driving force when making both small and important business decisions.

The Importance of Your WHY?

Everyone must have a specific reason for what they are doing, especially in business.

You must be driven by a passion or a deeper reason.

This is something business owners have to ponder because settling for “to make money” for starting a company is truly not enough.

Why must you make money? What cause in your own life, in the industry, or in the world are you trying help?

As a business owner, you must think about WHY you are doing what you’re doing because not only will you align this reason with the rest of the people you will work with, but it will help you make sounder decisions that stay in line with what you want to accomplish.

Without this, it is much easier to get lost in the depth of responsibilities and decision-making of a business.

Finding Your WHY

Now, after having established why this concept is important, the more difficult part is having to think of it.

This holds especially true for busy business owners that simply do not have time to waste; the activity is time-consuming, but in reality, it is one of the most necessary tasks that a business owner must do.

Looking at the Bigger Picture

When hiring help to delegate administrative tasks, you have to them the context of the company that they’re working with. You must share with them the reason why you put up your company and the driving force that makes you work in this industry. This way, it will help them understand your business environment and can make their work decisions based on that passion.

You are forced to really think about why you build your company so that you can explain your vision to your virtual assistant and other staff. From there, you will align with the right people that can help you grow your business.

Without this step, your relationship with your staff and virtual assistant, as well as your long-term successes are more likely to falter.

In order to properly delegate and run your business in the most efficient way possible into success, you must be able to point out what inspires you to wake up every day and do what you do.

Running a business is a difficult task and comes with several important responsibilities. If the your reasons for opening up shop is half-baked or are centered towards superficial reasons it will be a challenge to undergo the several and inevitable hurdles that await all business owners.
